Tamworth Planning Board - Needs Volunteers

The Tamworth Planning Board needs assistance from individuals who would be willing to represent our community either at the local level or more broadly within the lakes region. Each position requires a 3-year commitment to attend meetings as prescribed. Previous experience in land use planning is not necessary.  The important ingredient is a passion for sustainable development which will be beneficial to our town.  Good communication with the town's governmental officials and our community is necessary, as a well informed community will make better decisions as our town and region experiences growth.

We seek individuals for the following positions:

Alternate to the Tamworth Planning Board (Up to 5 people):
Alternates attend our regular monthly meetings and become familiar with or regulations and ordinances.  Our meetings are held on the 4th Wednesday of each month, 6 PM at the Town Office Building.  You can find the link to the Planning Board regulations and ordinances on the town website by clicking on the following link: https://www.tamworthnh.org/board-selectmen/pages/policies-ordinances-reg...
Becoming an alternate is the best way to become a board member in the future.

Lakes Region Planning Commissioner (Two representatives per town. Lianne Prentice is one of them.)
Commissioners attend seven 2-hour meetings per year.  The meetings run September, October, November, March, April, May.  June is the annual meeting gala.

The ideal Commissioner has an interest in meeting the needs of Tamworth, supports best practices for sustainable development, and is curious.  Meeting topics vary with particular emphasis on affordable housing, economic development, municipal sewer and water, energy, and the protection of our natural resources.

Commissioners share what they find with relevant town parties.  That can be as simple as reporting at a public meeting, making a post on the Tamworth Exchange, or sending an email report to other committee or board chairs.

If interested in either position:
Send an email (preferred) of your intent to me at pbchair@tamworthnh.org or mail me a letter to the address below:
84 Main Street, Tamworth, NH 03886

Thank you for this consideration!
