Love to swim? Love kids? Looking for some extra income? Tamworth Rec has a job for you! Hiring certified or certifiable swim instructors for the Summer 2023 season. Lessons will run between 3-6pm, Monday-Thursday, July and August 2023. Instructors will work with 3-5 students per 30-minute lesson.

 

Tamworth Rec Swim Instructors report directly to the Tamworth Rec Coordinator. For candidates who have CPR/first aid certifications and strong swimming ability, the Town of Tamworth will support your certification to become either a Basic Swim Instructor (BSI) or Waterfront Safety Instructor (WSI).

 

Pay $15-22/hour, based on certifications and experience; $25/hour for dual certification of BSI/WSI and lifeguard

 

Requirements:

 

-High school diploma or GED

-CPR, First Aid, and American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor or Basic Swim Instructor (BSI) certifications (uncertified applicants with significant demonstrable competitive swim experience can go through certification process at Town expense)

-Sound knowledge of proper swimming techniques and water safety rules -Strong swimming abilities

-Excellent conflict resolution skills

-Effective communication skills

-Passion, patience, and enthusiasm

-Reliable Transportation

 

Job Duties:

 

-Teaching swimming techniques, swimming strokes, and water safety rules to students with varying swimming abilities, ages 3-teens

-Identifying incorrect swimming techniques and correcting students accordingly

-Assisting more experienced swimmers to enhance their swimming abilities

-Communicating with student families, other instructors, and Rec Coordinator

-Participating in employee trainings and meetings

-Monitoring students to prevent accidents and injuries
